OUR VISION
Hidden Treasures
In the year 1867, a farmer in South Africa found the first African diamond. He saw neighbors’ children playing with a glittery stone. He bought the stone from them hoping it would be worth something. So he gave it to a merchant with the mission to find out the stone’s worth. The merchant first came to a city called Hopetown, but no one there was willing to pay anything for the stone. In the next city, the merchant showed the stone to a superintendent. This man, though not educated in the matter, assumed the stone may be a diamond, so they went on to get the opinion of Dr. Atherstone in Grahamstown, the most well-known mineralogist in South Africa. As it turned out, it truly was a diamond the farmer had found.
We believe that many young people are like that stone. They are treasures with an immense worth. They have special talents and gifts, but very often no one knows that, not even themselves.
