Update August 22
Hello dear friends!
At the beginning of August we had a nice graduation with our students. We know from the feedback that the lessons really helped them. For example, Christine, a student said:
"The class really helped me a lot and encouraged me. Because I now know my gifts and talents even better, I was encouraged to study business administration. I'm really looking forward to university and I'm sure I'm very well prepared now."
Elections were held in Kenya on August 9. The result is now known, but it was very close and not without controversy. Thankfully, it remained largely peaceful. Around the elections, schools were closed for two weeks for security reasons. This also delayed the distribution of food packages. For this purpose, we are working with schools to ensure that the food actually reaches the families who are suffering the most from the high inflation. This week we were able to distribute the first 60 packages. We also had the opportunity to speak to the people and share God's love and hope with them. This is always a matter close to our hearts, because many people have little reason for hope at the moment. This also became clear to us in the conversations. They were all the more grateful when we handed over the packages. Many people assured us how much the food was helping them right now. We are happy to pass this gratitude on to you, because your donations have made this campaign possible. Thank you very much!
Center of hope:
We are still working on this as well. The challenge is that also in Kenya everything is getting more expensive and therefore we need more money than originally planned. In recent weeks and months, we have been in contact with numerous potential supporters such as companies, foundations and churches. Several of them are currently checking whether they will support us. We have also already received commitments. You are welcome to join us in praying that the necessary finances will be raised. The plan is to start drilling and building the well in early 2023. Then in the second half of the year we could receive the first orphans.
Thank you:
A thousand thanks to all those who support us through finances, prayer or even practically! Only through you our work here in Kenya is possible.
If you would also like to support us or if you have any questions or suggestions about our work, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to hearing from you.
Yours truly
Marco and Joy
