Update March 23

Hello dear friends!

We started our last newsletter by saying that it has not rained since we arrived in Kenya and that the people here are eagerly waiting for rain. Now we can start this newsletter with good news: In mid-March it rained for the first time in Nairobi and since then it has been raining regularly, thank God.
In the last weeks we have done a lot of rather organizational things. Among other things, we had to make a change in the statutes of our Kenyan organization. This has now been submitted and we hope that it will not take too long.
We have made progress with the food packages. Last weekend we distributed more than 50 packages to needy families in the slum in Nairobi.

Last week we distributed another 50 food packages.

Many people told us that they lost their jobs during the Corona pandemic and have not been able to find new ones. Others lost their jobs only last year, often as a result of the tight economic situation. The long drought of the last few months and the inflation are causing additional hardship for the people in this unformal settlements. For example, one woman, a mother of two young children, told us:
"My husband has lost his job. We currently have nothing to left at home and I didn't know what to cook today. You are heaven sent - thank you so much!"

Outlook:
By the end of April we want to have distributed the remaining food packages. Otherwise, we hope to receive the amended bylaws and the new property Title deed next month. Especially the latter would be helpful for the building permit. We are doing our best here and remain optimistic, but much depends on authorities.

Thank you:
Finally, as always, many thanks to all who support us through prayer, finances or practically. Only through you our work in Kenya is possible - thank you!
So if you have any questions or suggestions or would like to support our work, please feel free to contact us.

Yours truly

Marco and Joy
