Update February 24
Hello dear friends!
February was dominated by efforts to obtain Marco's work permit. This has not yet been successful, but he has now received a visit visa for two months. During this time, he should also receive his work permit.
There is also news about our building project: In mid-February, we had a meeting with the construction company we commissioned. Various companies submitted bids for the individual construction phases. These will now be reviewed by the construction company and then one company will be proposed for each construction phase, which will then be awarded the contract.
However, we are still waiting for planning permission before we can start building. But at least there is progress here too. All the neighbors have probably agreed that we can start building. This is a prerequisite here in Kenya. There was also a meeting between a representative of the construction company and the mayor of the region. We are very confident that we will receive the building permit soon.
We have also made progress with the food parcels you donated: Last week, we distributed another 50 to families in need. We were particularly moved by the sight of a woman who came to Kenya as a refugee from the Congo. These people have a particularly hard time finding work here, for example. Accordingly, the woman was really moved and fought back tears when we handed her the parcel.
Outlook:
In the coming weeks, we will continue to try to obtain planning permission. It is still not unrealistic that we will start building in March. We will also continue our efforts to obtain Marco's work permit. This would give us planning security for the next few years. You are welcome to pray for this.
Thank you:
Once again, we would like to thank everyone who has supported us through prayer, financially or practically. Our work here in Kenya is only possible thanks to you - thank you very much!
If you would also like to support our work or have any questions or suggestions, please contact us.
Yours truly
Marco and Joy
